“What is in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet” –
William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet
Have you ever looked at someone and thought: this looks like a John? Maybe you have experienced the converse, where you think: she looks nothing like a Mary.
A name holds a great level of importance; it can make you have a lot of preconceived notions about someone. At the end of the day, it’s one of the first things you get to know about someone... and first impressions are so important. We are going to explain to you how we came to be called Offblak, why our community is named Generation T, and why our blog is in fact, the Offblog.
OFFBLAK
Offblak is derived from more than a play on words; it is a play on the meaning of being different. In fact, OFFBLAK aims to be the rebellious tea brand; if there are rules in tea, we intend to rewrite them.
As we all know, traditional tea is dominated by black tea. This is the famous tea from which came the famous British cuppa (milk and sugar to taste) as well as the Earl Grey tea. We love them both but believe that tea, just like anything else, must evolve with the times...
Our brand aims to break tradition. In the same way the colour off-white is to white, off-black is to black tea. We are anything but traditional black tea.
Thus, we have: OFFBLAK, a revolutionary, post-modern and rule-breaking tea brand. We are anything but one shade. We are anything but singular. We do not play by traditional rules.
OFFBLAK is bold, beautiful and unapologetic. An anti-bland brand, we are unique… because what’s fun about being the same? We want to start a new conversation in the tea category, to create an iconic tea lifestyle for you… which bring us to our next point.
GENERATION T
When we noticed that there was a gap in the market between modernity and tea, we realised that the tea market was not catering to a whole host of people; according to Statista, 40% of the population! A play on the term “Generation Z”, we created a space for you... “Generation T”.
Who is Generation T?
We believe tea should be always aspirational, vibrant, bold and tasty, just like you. Generation T is the modern tea lover, he/she who puts the globe’s needs in front of his own, who loves to travel or just cosy up on the couch with a cup of tea, but whatever he/she does, it is done in style.
Imagine this: you see a trendy guy sitting in a cafe typing away on Whatsapp. He is wearing ripped jeans, a grey hoodie and thick framed glasses. He is eating a protein bar and is slowly sipping on…. traditional black tea. Something doesn’t quite fit the picture, right? We needed a tea to match the style. That’s why we created a tea is is good looking, tasty, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. This tea is Offblak.
Not only did we want to create a tea brand for Generation T, but we wanted to give you a hub where they can explore all their interests. Thus, The Offblog was born.
OFFBLOG
Start with what matters most - you, your day, your life and your style. Then, say it and do it without compromise.
The Offblog is the blog space that belongs to Offblak. While we love tea, we will be covering a wide range of topics that are important to you. Again, it is not just a blog, it is anything but a regular blog. The ultimate goal of the Offblog is to create a space for our community to spark conversations, make queries, share interests and suggestions, and most importantly, connect.
So, let’s start this again.
Our name is Offblak, It’s nice to meet you. What is your name?
